Junior Cost Accountant

Netelek commenced operations in the electricity utility in 1990. The electricity sector is dependent on technology and related systems with significant regulatory compliance and employee skills certification and compliance to adhere to.

We are looking for a Cost Accountant. The applicant will be responsible for identifying potential cost-saving initiatives, collection of cost information and maintaining expense databases. The applicant will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.

Budgeting & forecasting will also form part of the individuals' daily duties with the main focus on keeping track of financial expenses and reporting thereof. The individual must be willing to learn, accept responsibility, take accountability and form part of a diverse finance team with numerous financial experience in the audit and operational field.

The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial operations. This way it can make the right decisions and accomplish long term success.

Between R100,000 and R180,000 per annum

Inclusive of performance bonus, medical aid, pension, travel allowance and 20% overtime allowance.


General requirements:

  • Place of work will be at the premises of Netelek (Pty) Ltd at 5 Zeederberg Square, Paarl

  • Minimum qualification:

  • Degree in Cost Accounting (Bcom Financial Management, Diploma in Management Accounting, etc.)

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the relevant field

  • The candidate must be willing to travel, as well as from time to time, outside the borders of the country.

  • Must be fluent in English (speaking as well as writing) – other languages will be an advantage.

  • Must have excellent computer skills.

  • Good record keeping.

  • Cost analysis & control

  • Financial modelling

  • Compilation of reports

  • General financial administration

  • Product Costing

  • Reconciliations

  • Ad Hoc duties

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience but the band envisaged is between R100,000 and R180,000 per annum and will depend on the candidates' experience, qualifications and assessment. The Group pension scheme also allows for 24-month salary payout to a nominated person(s) in case of death.
